Rutgers basketball is staying put.
The Scarlet Knights remain at No. 24 in the Associated Press’ Top 25 poll released on Monday, the same spot it occupied last week. It marks the 41st time in program history that Rutgers is ranked in the prestigious poll and the 15th time under head coach Steve Pikiell.
Rutgers improved to 3-0 this week with wins over Saint Peter’s and Monmouth. The latter victory marked the debut of five-star freshman Ace Bailey, who did not disappoint the packed crowd that came to see him. The future NBA lottery pick finished with 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting (1-of-3 on threes, 6-of-8 on free throws), six rebounds, two steals, one block, two turnovers, one foul in 30 minutes.
“It’s amazing that he is that talented as a young kid,” Monmouth coach King Rice said, “and it’s cool that he’s at Rutgers.”
